1. Type of sliding platform

The side sliding platforms currently in use can be divided into three types: dual board linkage, dual board separation, and single board side sliding. The measurement length of the skateboard is 500mm and 1000mm.

2. Double board linkage side sliding table

At present, the detection line mainly uses a dual board linkage side sliding platform, and the measured value is the average of the left and right wheel side sliding. It consists of a frame, two skateboards on the left and right, a synchronization mechanism, a displacement sensor, and its electrical measurement device. The key difficulties in equipment manufacturing are the accuracy of synchronous mechanisms, the sliding mechanisms, and their service life.

Advantages: Dual board linkage, synchronized movement of the board surface towards the outside or inside when the vehicle passes by, stable driving state, and good repeatability.

Disadvantage: Unable to measure the left and right wheel slip separately.

3. Double board split side sliding table

At present, the detection line uses a double plate split side sliding table, which can measure the left and right wheel slip values respectively, and calculate the average value of the left and right wheel slip. It consists of a frame, two skateboards on the left and right, a return mechanism for the left and right boards, a displacement sensor, and its electrical measurement device. The key difficulty in equipment manufacturing is the sliding mechanism and its service life.

Advantages: Double board split, capable of measuring left and right wheel slip values separately.

Disadvantages: When the vehicle first drives onto the board, due to the greater movement of the board on the side with greater lateral force than the board on the side with less lateral force, the front of the vehicle will swing in the direction of the force on the side with greater lateral force, resulting in unstable driving conditions, poor repeatability and significant distortion of measurement results.

4. Single board side slip inspection table

Currently, many small car lines, mobile lines, and repair shops use single board sideslip. One side of the wheel passes through the side skateboard, while the other side passes directly from the ground. The displacement of the board surface is the result of the combined effect of the lateral slip of the left and right wheels. After calibration or data processing, it should reflect the average displacement of the left and right wheels (after dividing the displacement of the board surface by 2). It consists of a bottom frame, a skateboard, a return mechanism, a displacement sensor, and its electrical measurement device. The key difficulty in equipment manufacturing is the sliding mechanism and its service life.

Advantages: Convenient, stable driving condition, good repeatability, and allowed to use according to national standards

Disadvantage: When the vehicle passes through the side skateboard and comes into contact with the ground, the amount of tire slippage on the side that comes into contact with the ground cannot be fully affected by tire deformation and axle clearance, resulting in a smaller measured value. When the single board side slip table of the same vehicle is placed under the left and right wheels for measurement, the test results are different, unless the actual side slip values of the left and right wheels of the vehicle are the same.

5. Side slip relaxation plate

Before the wheel enters the side slip platform, due to the lateral stress generated by the wheel slip, the contact between the wheel and the ground forces the wheel to deform. At the moment of driving onto the side skateboard, it will be released and cause the skateboard to displacement greater than the actual value; At the moment of exiting the skateboard, the tires that have already come into contact with the ground will accumulate stress and hinder the movement of the skateboard, resulting in a displacement of the skateboard less than the actual value. Therefore, recently there have been several side slip tables with relaxation plates, which can accurately measure the amount of side slip when the wheels pass through the middle sliding plate (with a side slip detection sensor).
