Chinese Academy Of Engineering | Academician Li Jun: Autonomous Driving Safety Enters The Safety Case Era

       Recently, Li Jun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at Tsinghua University, mentioned in an interview that 2026 will be a structural turning point for global autonomous driving safety regulation, and ADS (autonomous driving systems) will officially enter the Safety Case era.Li Jun believes that the initial intention of developing smart cars was to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents caused by cars. The safety of autonomous driving in smart cars is as crucial as the fact that electric cars cannot catch fire. The main challenge in autonomous driving safety lies in the accuracy, sufficiency, stability and completeness of scene recognition, specifically whether there are enough sensor technologies, digital computation analysis technologies, and superchips to recognise random scenes, especially how to decompose the perception system for complex random scenes effectively.
