Electric power steering system (Electric Power Steering, abbreviated EPS) is a power steering system that is directly dependent on the motor to provide auxiliary torque. The EPS system has many advantages over the traditional hydraulic power steering system HPS (Hydraulic Power Steering). EPS is mainly composed of torque sensor, electric motor, deceleration mechanism and electronic control unit (ECU).
According to the different installation position of the power motor, EPS system can be divided into steering shaft power type, gear power type and rack power type. The motor of the steering shaft power-type EPS is fixed on the side of the steering shaft, which is connected with the steering shaft through the deceleration mechanism to directly drive the power steering of the steering shaft. The motor and deceleration mechanism of the gear power EPS are connected to the pinion to directly drive the gear power steering. The motor and deceleration mechanism of the rack power EPS directly drive the rack to provide power.
